Still not sure if this year’s American Industrial Hygiene Conference & Exposition EXP in Philadelphia is a fit for you? Let’s look at the numbers. Here’s five points you should consider with budget in mind:
Professional Stages and Industries Represented
Last year, 4,387 IH and OH professionals flooded AIHce in Seattle, Washington along with 213 exhibitors. Of those in attendance, half considered themselves senior professionals with more than 25 years of experience in the field. Thirty-four percent were in the professional bracket and 16 percent were new to the profession with six years of experience or less, or were students preparing to enter the profession.
And what industries were at AIHce in 2017? A whopping 41 percent were from general industry and 17 percent come from the consulting fields. We also saw a heavy percentage of attendees work in academia and in the government or military.
No matter what industry you work in, we guarantee you’ll find educational sessions that meet your current needs and find exhibitors who can help make your job better and more effective with their products or services. Of everything else we share with you, know that these two points are the most invaluable to you, your career, and your employer.
So Why Attend?
There are a lot of reasons you should be here that we’ve covered elsewhere. But did you know that 90 percent of last year’s attendees will recommend you attend this year? And 91 percent want to return. That’s more than 3,500 of your peers eager to return to the AIHce EXPerience.
And if you’re an exhibitor trying to decide if this is the right event? Well, 90 percent of our attendees are purchasing influencers, and 82 percent are actively seeking new products and services for their workspaces. It’s a ready-made, captive audience waiting to find out what you can do to help them make their jobs better – and their employees safer.
Jam-packed with Education and Information
Our education team listened to what our attendees have said and turned AIHce into an educational EXPerience. Even though the conference was reduced to three days from four, it’s been streamlined to maximize your learning arcs. Forty-four topics across 180 educational sessions during the main conference days…and that’s not counting the 70 Professional Development Courses (PDCs) being presented before and after the conference!
And don’t forget that this year, we’re offering a general session for each day of the conference. You don’t want to miss hearing on Monday how Rich Karlgaard from Forbes describes the future of industrial hygiene, our hot-topic panel on opioids and first responders on Tuesday, and our closing keynote with Colonel Kirk Phillips’ discussion about total exposure health.
And if you’re looking for some group activities and on-site experiences, you can choose from one of the eight great technical tours in the Philadelphia area. While there is a small registration fee for these tours, they are a highlight every year. Consider adding one of these fascinating tours to this year’s itinerary.
But It Costs So Much…
Stop right there. Yes, the cost looks a bit steep – but did you see that there are multiple ways to save money on your registration fee? Not to mention the return great new benefit that you’ll be getting for FREE with a full conference registration: AIHce EXP On Demand.
First off, there’s a way to save regardless of what kind of registration you’re considering. Only have time for one day at AIHce? Get a bunch of your colleagues to go with you and save up to $100 through our new group rates. Can’t make it to the main conference but in need of some education for your recertification? Consider a half-, full-, or two-day PDC course and you could save more than $400, when compared to the conference rate.
And new this year? A special ONE DAY pass for AIHA student members! That’s right – pick the day you want to attend and we’ll see you there!
If you’re coming for the full conference, you can save up to $200 if you book your room in the AIHce hotel block. It’s our “Stay and Save” rate that is applicable if you’re purchasing a full conference registration. With twelve hotels - and a range of room rates - to choose from, it’s an easy way to quickly save a couple Benjamins.
And here’s the thing about a full conference registration: you’ll also get full access to AIHce EXP On Demand through the end of 2018. This is an enormous savings over last year, because you’re not only getting a $400+ service for free but you’re ALSO receiving access to a ton of more CE credits to help you in your recertification process for the year.
Okay, so now you’re convinced it’s important for you to attend but you’ve still got a tight budget to work with. No fear here! There are numerous ways to save a little bit here and there and still squeeze the most out of your AIHce EXPerience.
- Work out your transportation options from the airport and know that you don’t need to rent a car or a cab to get around.
- Keep in mind that there are plenty of snacks and beverages provided for attendees throughout the day during the main conference, including the Mark of Excellence breakfast awards show on Wednesday. And if you’re going the PDC route, you’ll receive a box lunch if you’re scheduled for a full day course - or two half-day courses on the same day. Plus, there is a multitude of low-cost options in and around the Pennsylvania Convention Center.
- Low-cost airfare can be found with some judicious searching and even timing your booking. From identifying the cheapest day to fly out to booking through local airlines not found in search engines, there are ways to get flights that are economical and won’t break your travel budget. It’s also best to book early and not wait until the last minute!
If it’s still just not coming together for you, then perhaps consider attending AIHce “virtually.” This year’s virtual program is robust and includes new PDC and registration options as well. The virtual team has added in some great bonus content to augment your EXPerience, such as interviews with award winners, exhibitors, and presenters. And of course, there’s nothing like capping off the day by networking with other virtual attendees in the always-popular Virtual Happy Hour.
So there you have it – lots of ways to get the most out of your budget for this year’s AIHce EXP. Don’t wait too long – register before the Advanced Rate disappears on March 18 – and hey, that’s another few hundred dollars you can save, too!
