Not only is Philadelphia full of incredible history, it’s rated as one of the best walking cities in the country—which comes in handy when you’re wanting to explore the sights. AIHce EXP will take place in the Pennyslvania Convention Center, right in heart of City Center Philadelphia. Spanning more than six blocks, the convention center and our affiliate hotels are easily accessible by car, train, taxi, and the regional rail at Jefferson Station.
If you’re flying into Philadelphia International Airport (PHL), you can get to the City Center via car (taxis or rideshare) or the Airport Regional Rail Line. SEPTA provides a train service between PHL and the City Center, with trains stopping at all PHL terminals. By taking the rail, you’ll reach the City Center (central to your hotel and the Convention Center) in 25 minutes.
If you’re coming into Philadelphia by train, the 30th Street Station is 1.8 miles from the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Traveling by car? You can find directions here.
Explore the city by foot, bike, or PHLASH
Your schedule will be jam-packed during the conference, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take the time to explore Philadelphia. If possible, we encourage all of our attendees to add on a couple of extra days around the conference to see everything our host city has to offer. Lucky for us, Philadelphia’s grid layout makes it easy to go sightseeing, even if you’re just able to take a quick lunch break between session.
You can wander around the city on foot and see where you end up, or you can take a self-guided walking tour of Philadelphia. If you’re a fan of exploring by bike, you’re in luck. Philadelphia has 435 miles of dedicated bike lanes. In the mood for a run? Well, make sure you end it with a high-five from Rocky Balboa. Or, you can choose from these top ten running and biking trails near Center City Philadelphia.
Short on time? Hop on the PHLASH to take a ride around town to see 22 of Philadelphia’s top attractions. But wait, there’s more! Philadelphia is home to the nation’s fifth-largest transit system, which you should take advantage of during your time at AIHce EXP. You can find details about all your transportation options on the Visit Philly website.
Look, we’re all ready to get our hands on an authentic Philly cheesesteak, but did you know the city offers many more delicious options? Not sure where to start? We recommend the Reading Terminal Market, one of America’s largest and oldest public markets, housed since 1893 in a National Historic Landmark building. In addition to the history, you’ll get to experience an incredible range of vendors, as well as restaurants to give you a taste of the diversity of Philadelphia.
I don’t know about you, but I feel like I would need another week in Philadelphia just for the food!
