AIHce EXP SCHEDULE

What is the schedule for AIHce EXP 2018?

The 2018 schedule will mirror the changes made in 2017: Professional Development Courses (PDCs) will be held on Saturday, May 19; Sunday, May 20; and Thursday, May 24. The conference itself will be Monday, May 21 through Wednesday, May 23. Education sessions will be one (1) hour long with time in between to allow you to move from one to another. Committee meetings will be held in the early morning or late afternoon, so you’ll have time to attend the education sessions. The Expo will be throughout the day, and there will be 90 minutes of dedicated Expo time in the middle of the day to allow you visit exhibitors. The Hub will be open Monday through Wednesday with programming scheduled in the Learn Zone, CareerAdvantage, and table topics areas, as well as posters on display the entire conference.

When are the general sessions?

There will be four general sessions, which bring together all conference attendees: Monday and Tuesday mornings; Wednesday's Mark of Excellence breakfast, where AIHA and ACGIH honorees are recognized for their achievements; and Wednesday afternoon's closing general session. All general sessions are included in full conference registrations.

Why were changes made to the schedule?

AIHce attendees have been telling us they want a conference schedule that isn’t as hectic and long, with fewer - but better - education sessions. In previous years, there was a huge drop in attendance on Thursday, a clear indication by attendees that they considered the conference to be over on Wednesday. We took all of these factors into consideration and developed a new program design that reflects what you’ve told us you want.

When does the conference start?

That depends on whether you’re participating in PDCs or not. There are half-day, full-day, and two-day PDCs on Saturday and Sunday. We are debuting a NEW networking activity on Sunday night called the MeetUp Merry-Go-Round. The conference officially begins bright and early Monday morning with the opening general session at 8:00 a.m.

REGISTRATION FEES

What does my registration fee include?

Your AIHce EXP registration (full conference) includes access to all the education sessions, plus the General Sessions, movie matinee, named lectures, and more. You’ll be able to attend the MeetUp Merry-Go-Round on Sunday night and the Expo Hall Networking Reception on Monday evening. You’ll also receive access to AIHce EXP OnDemand after the conference (through December 2018).

Did the registration fees go up this year?

No; registration fees for AIHce EXP 2018 are the same as 2017. (There was a small increase in fees in 2017 to provide access to AIHce EXP OnDemand to every paid registrant).

What changed with the housing fee?

To be honest, nothing changed other than the words. We used to call the lower registration fee—the one for people who stay in our hotel block—the advanced or standard fee. That didn’t really make sense, so we changed the names. Now the advanced or standard rates are the fees you pay before the Stay and Save discount earned by staying in the conference hotel block.

Why do you charge more for not staying in the block?

AIHA negotiates rates at nearby hotels as a courtesy to our attendees. The hotels agree to the rates and reserve a block of rooms for us, with the expectation that those rooms will be sold. If they’re not, AIHA pays a penalty. As an incentive to encourage you to stay within the block, we offer a discounted registration fee for the conference.

CERTIFICATION MAINTENANCE

How many certification maintenance (CM) credits will I earn from attending AIHce EXP 2018?

You’ll receive 20 hours for attending the conference from Monday through Wednesday. You can earn additional credit for any PDCs you take and OnDemand sessions you listen to. See the PDC descriptions and OnDemand instructions for amounts.

AIHce EXP OnDemand

What do I need to do to watch the recordings?

It takes 4 to 6 weeks after AIHce EXP to prepare the recordings for viewing. When they are ready, you will receive login instructions that will allow you access the library of session recordings from AIHce EXP 2018. At the conclusion, you’ll be asked to complete an evaluation and submit for credit. Detailed instructions will be sent along with the login instructions.

Can I earn credit from watching session recordings?

You can earn credit for each additional session recording you watch as long as you follow the procedure for submitting for credit, explained in the instructions. You will have access to these recordings through December 31, 2018 and can view as many as you’re interested in.

HOUSING

Why wasn’t I able to get a reservation at the hotel I wanted?

AIHA has reserved blocks of rooms at 12 different hotels in Philadelphia. Depending on popularity, the room block at one hotel may sell out sooner than at another, so it’s important to make your reservations sooner rather than later.

The hotel I want isn’t showing up when I search?

We book sleeping rooms on a bell curve, with the most rooms available Sunday and Monday nights. If the hotel you want doesn’t show up when you search for your arrival and departure dates, try changing one of the dates (later if it’s arrival, and earlier if it’s departure). If the hotel appears in the list, book it and reach out to customer service (800-462-9260) to request that they ask the hotel for the additional nights. If the hotel you want does not appear after changing your arrival or departure dates, it is sold out.

What is the government per diem rate in Philadelphia?

US government employees have a per diem rate of $201 for hotels in Philadelphia in May 2018. We have government rooms reserved at every contracted AIHce EXP hotel. Simply note in your registration profile that you are a government employee (the question may be found on the page with your contact information), and when you reach the housing section, hotels with available government rated rooms will populate at the per diem rate.

WHAT TO BRING

What’s the attire for the conference?

We want you to be comfortable at AIHce EXP. Most folks come in business casual attire. Meeting rooms are often cold, so we recommend you bring a sweater or layers for your comfort. Typical Philadelphia temperatures for May are daytime highs in the mid 70s and nighttime lows in the low 50s.
